About Us
About Us

Northland School is a co-educational full primary school, incorporating Years 1 to 8. The end of year roll is approximately 300 children and most of our children are with us for all their primary education.

The school was established in 1906 and we celebrated our first 100 years in September 2006. We are situated in the middle of the Wellington suburb of Northland and overlook the centre of Government and the downtown city.

We promote high standards of personal achievement for all students. We provide a comprehensive balanced curriculum that offers students the best learning opportunities available in a supportive and stimulating environment. Our programmes give priority to literacy and numeracy in the first four years of school. We build on these in the later years with our programmes in Thinking Skills and Information Literacy that help develop our children and provide them with the tools and skills for life-long learning.

Northland School Values
Our values help guide the type of programmes we offer and the decisions we make:

  • A commitment to high standards of achievement
  • Independent and self-motivated learning
  • A commitment to working co-operatively
  • Creativity and risk-taking
  • Building relationships across the school
  • A strong relationship with its community
  • A tolerant and open atmosphere accepting of difference and valuing diversity.

You can contact us by emailing office@northland.school.nz or telephoning 04 4757596 or by writing to Northland School, 14 Harbourview Rd, Northland, Wellington.
