Team 2 - Term 2 2011

Disaster ArtDisaster Art
In term 2 Team 2 have been studying natural disasters. Natural disasters include tornados, hurricanes, floods and earthquakes. We have been using art to illustrate natural disasters. For example, we used plaster of Paris, cardboard and paint to make a 3-D picture of a tsunami and we made volcano pictures with 3-D lava made out of tissues and paint.

Cross Country TrainingCross Country Training
Team 2 are training for the 2011 Northland School Cross Country. The Year 3’s have the shortest track because they are the youngest. I enjoy the training. We run around Northland Park and around the roads near school. The Cross Country is on next Tuesday.

Matariki PlantingMatariki Planting
During our week of Matarki celebrations we planted many different plants over at Northland Park. We also put mulch around the plants to keep down the weeds and keep the plants warm. It was lots of hard work but lots of fun too. We worked really well together in groups to get the job done. Northland Park is looking more and more attractive with our planting each year. We also planted some flax down the big bank so in the future balls will not roll all the way down military track!

Mid-Winter Christmas CelebrationMid-Winter Christmas Celebration
To celebrate the middle of winter and cheer ourselves up from the dark and rainy days we are having the school celebrated mid-winter. We dressed up in clothes of the season (either winter or Christmas). We did a winter themed activity with our buddies on Friday.

Fire GuestsFire Guests
In Team Two we are doing a disaster unit. On Wednesday, the fire service came to talk to Team Two about fire and earthquakes to help us in our unit. One of the activities we did was to build a shelter to last the night from what you could find from around the school. We had 2 tarpaulins, some wood, rope and chairs. It was tricky at first and we had to work in a team.
