Team 2 Talent ShowTeam 2 Talent Show
Team 2 did a talent show on 4 October and people performed dances, told jokes, did doggy tricks, played instruments, did gymnastics, did Morse code mime, performed plays and lots more! We’re a talented team!

Team TimeTeam Time
Every second week Team 2 meets down in the Viggers Centre for Team Time. We sing songs, share work, and give out awards. The songs that Team 2 sings are songs like “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” and “One Step Two Steps”. When we share our work we get someone to tell the team how the class made the piece of work.

Glue Line PrintingGlue Line Printing
Room 6 and the other classes in Team 2 have been doing glue line printing. First we had to draw a design, then we copied it onto a piece of cardboard and then drew glue lines over the design. When the glue was dry we made crayon rubbings from the glue plates.

Lachlan the Irish DancerLachlan the Irish Dancer
On 19 September 2011 an Irish dancer came to Northland School. His name was Lachlan. Lachlan is an expert because he is the best Irish dancer in NZ and his performance was amazing. Lachlan said that he has a whole cupboard full of medals and trophies.

Story Telling in Team 2Story Telling in Team 2
This term we have a topic called Let Us Entertain You. So for writing we picked a story to retell. First we picked the story and did a plan of the main events in the story. Then the next day we wrote the story in chunks. The next step was to choose a way to retell the story in another way like a play or a song. Then we had to think of the steps that we needed so we could perform it.

Sausage SizzleSausage Sizzle
Basically every term the Northland School student council organize a sausage sizzle.This term it was to fundraise for our sister school GPS Pea. You can order drinks such as Coke, Sprite and orange juice. You can also order a vegetarian sausage or a sausage with onions. The sausages you order also come with sauces such as mustard and tomato sauce.

PowerPoint Presentations for TopicPowerPoint Presentations for Topic
Team 2 are doing PowerPoints. Room 6 are doing folk tales, Room 7 fairy tales and Room 8 are doing legends. First we had to go on to Microsoft PowerPoint and type in our stories, then we did our art which we scanned in, then we had to put in video (of us reading our stories) and audio (music).

Swimming SportsSwimming Sports
On 12 August 2011 there were the swimming sports. The swimming sports are for Year 4 and up. You compete against people from your gender and age. You can compete in 1 length freestyle, 2 length freestyle, 1 length backstroke, 1 length breaststroke and 1 length butterfly. You can get into the Western Zones if you come in a good enough place.

Ruth Paul's VisitRuth Paul's Visit
Last week author/illustrator Ruth Paul came to team to talk to us about writing and illustrating. She talked to team 2 about the stages you go through when you write and illustrate a book. Then she got us to pull three words from a hat, writea short story and she illustrated it.

Spy ReportsSpy Reports
Room 6 have been writing spy reports. John Smith sent us a classified note about a spy in the Northland Community. First we chose someone to write about, then we started a report about them. We had to do an Introduction and 3 more headings and a conclusion. Then we published our reports and did our fake signature.

Daffodil DayDaffodil Day
On 26 August 2011 it was Daffodil Day. For Daffodil Day our school could buy daffodils to fund raise for people who have cancer. Cancer is a bad sickness.

Calendar ArtCalendar Art
In Team 2 for calendar art we’re doing printing. What we did first was draw a sketch in our art book .Then we cut out card and glued the card down. The next step was to ink the template with ink then before it is dry to press it down and with a clean roller roll over the template to help press the ink on. This art is a mess as well as fun.

For topic this term Team 2 are doing entertainment like books, games, the circus, sports and much more. We are finding out what entertains people from different countries. Also authors Ruth Paul and Moira Wairama came to read to us.

Hannah Ross Visiting Ballerina Hannah Ross Visiting Ballerina
This week Hannah Ross came to talk to Team 2 about ballet as part of our topic Let Us Entertain You. As part of her talk she got us to do the basic ballet positions 1,2,3,4,5. After that Hannah taught us some miming moves because in ballet you can’t speak. Hannah also showed Team 2 a dance she made up using the 5 positions. Team 2 learnt a lot from Hannah Ross.
