 | Kilbirnie Recreation Centre TripOn Monday some of room 8 and all of room 7 came on an end of year trip to Kilbirnie Rec Centre. First all as a group we played Octopus. Then we split into two groups and played some other games. One of the games was where there was a shark trying to tag people. The people were only safe when they were on an island (which is a hoop). But when someone put their foot in you had to get out. There were roller blades and roller skates to play on after we had our lunch. The other Team 2 children went a week later.

 | Evans Bay Clean-UpTeam 2 participated in a clean up at Evans Bay beach on Thursday 8th December. Over 2000 school children joined in at different beaches around Wellington. We found bottle tops, plastic bottles, polystyrene, … there was a lot of rubbish!

 | Collage ArtTeam 2 have been doing face collage for art. First we got a black and white photo of our faces, then we got some magazines and ripped out little bits with skin colour to glue onto our faces.

 | RecyclingTeam 2 is doing recycling and sustainability for topic this term. Room 6 has reused rubbish and made it into things like drink bottles, funnels, flower holders, pencil holders and a note book.

 | Bean PlantingOn Thursday 27 October Team 2 planted beans. These beans are called runner beans. In Room 7 we made a chart to see whose table’s beans grow to the top of the stake. When the first one got to the top, each person at that table would get a chocolate coin.

 | Poetry in Team 2For our writing topic Team 2 are doing poems. The first step is to do a brain storm on your subject e.g. the beach. The next step we did was share our brain storm with a buddy to see if we needed to add something. Then after we had edited our work, we got a big sheet of paper to publish on.

 | Kelly SportsOn Wednesday a Kelly Sports person came to present sports activities to Team 2. First they explained what you did at each station. Then we got into groups of 4 and she assigned our groups to a station. At the stations you did things like: kick a football around some cones, try to get bean bags in buckets, and wobble on wobble boards while throwing and receiving a ball. Team 2 enjoyed the Kelly Sports as it helped us with our sports skills.

 | Megan from Southern Landfill VisitsLast week Megan from the Southern Land fill came to visit Team 2 to tell us about our topic reduce, reuse, recycle. Megan told us all about what happens at a landfill and what people should do with their waste. One of the first things she showed us was a yellow rubbish bag and what people put in it. One of the last things we did was to get a piece of paper from the cake tin and read out a solution to reduce, reuse or recycle. This really helped Team 2 with their topic.
