Parents and School Working Together (PTA)

Help shape our school community – get involved with the PTA

A key priority for the school community in Term 1 is rebuilding momentum and participation in the Northland School Parent–Teacher Association (PTA), and we’d love our school community to be part of this.

The PTA plays an important role in supporting school life – from fundraising for extra resources to creating opportunities for our community to come together. This year, we’re keen to:

  • Actively promote PTA involvement early in the year
  • Generate enough interest to hold a PTA AGM
  • Elect key PTA roles (Chair, Secretary and Treasurer)
  • Establish a sustainable PTA structure for the rest of 2026

We know from experience that face‑to‑face conversations matter. Written messages alone don’t always give parents and caregivers the confidence or clarity they need to step into PTA roles – which is why we’re focusing on opportunities to connect in person.

PTA Fundraising & Community Events Plan – 2026

The Board has agreed to the following plan of one fundraiser and one community event per term, balancing community connection with fundraising needs and volunteer capacity.

Term 1

  • Fundraiser: Hot Cross Buns (delivered 30 March)
Supporting indoor games, indoor balls for Te Kōhanga, and plants for new planter boxes.
  • Community Event: Working Bee (28 March)
PTA‑hosted BBQ, promoting PTA involvement and roles, and farewell to Tony.

Term 2

  • Fundraiser: Movie Night (audience format to be confirmed)
Supporting enrichment programme resources and equipment for clubs
  • Community Event: School Disco (date TBC)

Term 3

  • Fundraiser: Pies, Pies, Pies! (delivered 27 August)
Supporting library books and loose parts.
  • Community Event: Quiz Night at Shepherds Arms (date TBC)

Term 4

  • Fundraiser: Christmas baking (to be confirmed)
Supporting the Year 8 leavers’ event.
  • Community Event: Northland Champs Fun Run (date TBC)

Everyone Welcome

PTA involvement can look different for everyone – from helping at an event, to supporting behind the scenes, to stepping into a formal role. No experience is needed, just a willingness to be involved.

If you’ve ever thought about getting involved, this is the perfect time to start. Come along to the Working Bee, grab a sausage, and have a chat. We’d love to see you there.

Ngā mihi,

Andrea Peetz
